Cheap September 9, 2010 John Stillings (Merrimack, Nh United States) I will keep this brief.
First I never write reviews
Second This item constantly is falling apart.
Its cheap, and poorly constructed don't make the same mistake I made.
I should have spent another 10$ for a better head lamp...since it essential for hiking, and the last thing you want is a faulty headlamp.
Good luck
after much evaulation, good light September 7, 2010 PenMangler (alabama, US of A) I reviewed many comments and descriptions before I bought this beam. It seemed to be the best buy for my use. I was right. Wide, bright light. Reaches out a fair distance, but anywhere within a 8-foot reach, it's like daylight. Very bright to look at considering it is only two leds. The batteries are a bit of a magic trick to get in. Petzl furnishes the batteries, which is a nice touch. but putting batteries in the three bat compartment calls for holding your jaw just right or they will "spring" out of their position, causing the back to not close properly. Once you get the art of the battery mastered, the lamp snaps closed tightly and is a solid performer. the headband is comfortable and the whole system just feels balanced on my gourd. the up-down swivel is really a plus.
After using it for garage chores, walking in the evening, and cooking on the grill outside, I'd say it's well worth the money and should serve you well for a long time.
Works great but a little heavy July 19, 2010 Ilithia (Chicago, IL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This little guy is easy to pack and useful in so many situations. From reading in bed at night, playing cards at night at the campsite, or heading out to the bathroom, this will light the way while keeping your hands free. When you're wearing it, you can tell it's there (a little on the heavy side) and the strap will leave a mark after while. It's the economical way to go and will get the job done. Petzl is a great brand and won't let you down.
For those who want to spluge, I'd recommend the Tikka version -- more lighting options, additional range of motion on the light itself, and a little less bulky (Petzl E93 PS Tikka 2 Headlamp, Storm Gray or Petzl E97 PM Tikka Plus 2 Headlamp, Mystic Gray).
two hands free is awesome May 26, 2010 Ryan Burnett (San Diego, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my wife as a stocking stuffer. We finally went camping and I was the only one who used it. It works great, and it's nice to have both hands free when walking at night. It seems very durable, and the 2-LED system is sufficient. Also, I like the adjustable tilt of the beam.
As an aside: I think my wife thinks I look like a tool when wearing it around. That's OK, it's more about function over form.
Much brighter than I thought. May 12, 2010 Dre Freden I have bought twenty dollar flashlights before and this is significantly brighter. The packaging says something like 125 hour battery life. Haven't had it that long, but I'm hopeful. Overall it will be a great addition to my camp pack.
