Best purchase ever!!! March 9, 2010 Happy Shopper (Fairfield County, CT) I bought the new Kindle recently for my son's 12th birthday. He wanted it and told me it would make a reader out of him, and to my great surprise...he was right! He hated reading books because he didn't like the feel of them and hated turning the pages. He loves technology. He is already on his third book in less than a month. I cannot believe it. I just bought him the m-edge light for his case and he loves being able to read anywhere now. He is so happy with it. He has now gone from a kid who hated to read, to one who is getting in trouble for reading in school when he's not supposed to! (Believe me, it's a good problem to have.) Get one...you won't regret it!!!
Kindle Beets expectations March 9, 2010 Frank C. Fuller (PLACENTIA, CA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought my wife a Kindle for her birthday. She had it a short time and I bought mine.
We took a cruz to Australia and New Zealand in February. My wife downloaded several books and I downloaded a few. In the past she would take as many as ten books on a trip. Not anymore.
In the middle of the Tasman Sea I downloaded the current issue of the LA Times. I also looked at the stock market and other news available on the "Basic Web". I hope you will continue to develop this service.
I think you owe me a commission on future sales. Several passengers and crew asked us about the Kindle and we were happy to demonstrate.
We both are very pleased with our Kindles'!

DO NOT PURCHASE A NOOK March 8, 2010 Amy L. Renner (Cincinnati, OH) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
DO NOT BUY THE NOOK. I used to be a big fan of B&N and waited until their nook release to buy an ereader. WORST DECISION EVER. Not only is it incredibly slow but I had to return my nook, TWICE!!! After waiting for my nook that was backordered for 6 weeks, I finally got my nook in mid-January. It was very slow and would often freeze which was remedied by plugging it in to fully charge. Well it finally froze for good after having it for a month and B&N replaced it. After 2 days of my brand new nook it also froze beyond repair. For the past month I have been on the phone more with B&N tech support than with my own parents, most of the time being on hold for up to half an hour sometimes. B&N refused to pay my shipping charges for my second nook and after a painfully long time they finally decided to give me my full refund....THANK YOU AMAZON for showing me the error of my ways, I will never believe a company is better than you again, I'm a customer for life and now I never have to see the inside of a B&N store again, YIPPEE!
Amazing March 8, 2010 James Ellis (TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the kindle with the assumption that I'd mostly be using it away from home, something I'd use when I didn't have my normal paper books to read. This was how I treated my previous e-reader (Sony PR-500), and because I rarely used that, I was hesitant to buy the kindle.
I was pleasantly surprised to find, however, that I've been reading from my kindle everywhere, and I haven't bought a paper book since I got it. While that's kind of sad... I love paper books, but the kindle+amazon makes it so easy and convenient to read, as well as find something new to read, that I haven't even thought about the bookstore. Amazon's huge selection, and a somewhat discounted price, that you don't have to wait to ship. The iPhone kindle app with it's page sync feature means that I can always stop to read a few pages of my current book.
I love the kindle, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is a moderate to heavy reader!
KINDLE March 8, 2010 D. Fredericks 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased as a gift for Valentines Day / 18 yr anniversary since she loves to read. The Kindle was easy to to set up and the books download in seconds, no hassels shoping is great, with a vast array of available books and a dictionary search is very easy and I am still reaping the bennies as she takes it everywhere. Living in Alaska I was somewhat concerned about connection to the Amazon store but on a recent hiking jaunt she downloaded a book where my cellphone was cutting out.
